CANFDuino now supports 9-24V power input

A quick update for all new CANFDuino orders! After many customer requests and a much needed stock replenishment, we decided to add support for powering the unit off of external (non-USB power). The new power input can be found on the CAN0 DB9 connector, where PIN 9 now supports a 9-24V power. An AP7380 5V regulator, a couple of caps, and and a reverse-voltage protection diode bring 5V power to the prototyping area and the input to the 3.3V regulator.

9-24VDC External Power Circuit
External power also powers 5V and 3.3V for prototyping space

This means once you have coded and tested your application over USB, you can now operate the CANFDuino off of vehicle power without a USB cable tethered to the unit. This makes for a much cleaner vehicle installation especially if it’s a standalone “man in the middle” type of application. Note the hookup guide has been updated and please remember to check your silkscreen for the CANFDuino V1.2 marking to ensure this capability is supported. All future orders from togglebit.net will support this, happy hacking!
